JavaZone 2010 - Scala on TRONbot
TRONbot is a wheeled robot with a simple neural network implementation at its core.
Neural networks are electrical simulations of the neurons that exists in our own brains, either in hardware or in software, and are mostly used for signal interpretation or as in this case simulated behavior and AI.
The talk will focus on the experiences made using Scala for controlling a robot, and how neural networks can solve relatively hard problems you face making an autonomous robot.
I will go into brief detail about the low-level aspects of the implementation, but the corpus of the talk will be on how I implemented a neural network in Scala for autonomous behavior of the robot.
I will also mention other applications of neural networks and how to get started building your very own robot.
